I had a jar and a dream...

I had a jar and a dream.

Today, I deposited the money I have been saving for over a year and a half for the ministry I knew God was calling me to. I knew there was a plan that He would unfold as I took simple steps of faith because His spirit was leading me.

It began at first with my bible training through The Awakening School of Leadership. I had no doubt in my mind that God wanted me to train through this school, but my financial situation was extremely poor. But I KNEW if God wanted me to attend school, He could provide. So I prayed a simple prayer of faith, “God, I want to go to school, but I need you to provide.” I took an empty jar and wrote “School” on the side. I told God that all the money given to me outside of my paycheck, I would put in this jar and use for school. From that moment on, I started to be given money. Friends and family members would give me money because they knew I was saving for school. I would travel for ministry in Indiana doing prophetic chalk art in churches and some church members would give me money to invest in my ministry. That warmed my heart so much and encouraged me in my journey! But a crazy thing started happening. I would sometimes have random strangers just walk up to me while I was out and about. And they would just hand me money! I couldn’t believe it. It was so odd and so encouraging at the same time.

Well, after only having two and a half months of saving in that jar, it was time for the first day of school so I needed to see what I had. I poured out the contents and counted...EXACTLY enough to pay for ALL of school PLUS TITHE ON IT!!! I was so thrilled at what God had done for me. He was investing in my training and I couldn’t be more grateful for what I learned in my time as a student. This school changed the course of my life.

After I paid for school, I was still receiving money outside my normal paycheck. I decided to keep saving that money in this jar for whatever ministry God would lead me to after graduating. I didn’t know exactly what it would look like...I just knew there was something out there for me to do. So I just saved...and waited...and dreamed...and dreamed...and dreamed…

Now...the dream God planted in my heart is beginning to take shape. Oh how wonderful it is to be able to use my creativity for building His Kingdom! Creative Culture Ministries is a combination of outreach and discipleship ministry while using the arts as a tool to get people moving in their gifts, and to learn about the gospel message in a fresh way.

I have big dreams for God to use us in big ways! I love that God can use anything we give Him. And even art can be a powerful tool for building The Kingdom. My heart is to minister to families through unique artistic methods. But it is also to create a space for other people who are passionate about God and the arts to bring their passions together for ministry. Art has always been weaved throughout the history of The Church, but it has yet to reach its full potential as a part of Christian community life. I know there is so much more art can offer The Body of Christ and I’m dreaming for God to help Creative Culture Ministries break into new dimensions through His creative inspiration.

This is an exciting beginning to a God inspired dream and I can’t wait to see what He does with all of it. All I know is I’ll be right behind every step He takes!
